Dear Room 7,

I hope this letter finds you happy and enjoying Term Three.

As role models in Puriri Team, I was hoping that you could help me. Nikki told me that you have been learning about recycling and toys, and that you are going to be making your own toys out of recycled materials.

Room 20 needs your help. As the newest children at Grey Lynn School, they have got lots to learn. You are already experts in what children like to do and what they learn when they start school. Would you be able to help me and Room 20 by making some games and toys that will make learning fun for them?

If you accept this challenge, I will give you more information about what Room 20 needs to learn and some criteria you will need to follow.

We put all of our ideas together in a brainstorm.

This week our friends from Room 10 are going to help us create our educational games.

Week 8, Term 3

Calendar Maths

When someone in Room 7 said that 9 was less than 77, we thought we would see what it looked like in fingers.

Amelia showed us 9 fingers...

We needed all of the boys and Lilly G and Trixie to make 77 with their fingers. We counted in tens to check how many fingers we needed.

Then we counted in tens to find out how many fingers were in Room 7.

Anthony's Reading Activity

After Anthony read The Big Hill, he took photos of the important pictures. Then he used Popplet on the the iPad to put them in the order that they happened in the story.

Making Giant Pictures With Our Friends

On Friday we decided that we needed to practise being good friends and team mates. Before we started we talked about what a good friend looks like and sounds like. These are some of the ideas we shared:

Quad Blogging

This week we start Quad Blogging with other classrooms around New Zealand. This means that each week we will focus on a different classroom's blog. We will get to see what they have been learning and we'll be able to ask them questions about their classroom, school and the part of New Zealand they are in.
